Peculiarities of Saunas in Netherlands

Speaking about saunas in Netherlands, it is important to notice that the Dutch attitude about sauna is surprisingly inflexible. There is a rule and everybody must follow it. And this is the birthday suit. In other case, there is no entry for you there. If you want to visit a sauna then you have to find the courage, and you'll find nude bathing a relaxing experience.

saunas_netherlandsFor most people the first public sauna experience is probably the most awkward. But the naked Dutch preferring skin to skivvies, feel themselves confidently in contrast to first-timers who might feel slightly uncomfortable. And this is just a coed experience as nudity isn't mandatory, it's the practice. Don't forget to bring a big towel — to sit on, as well as reduce your exposure.

There are two categories of Dutch saunas: some of them are found in sports or fitness clubs or the public sauna/spa. However, there are a number of great public saunas to choose from, which should make going nude publicly—especially when it’s the first time—totally natural.

Sauna houses usually have a gorgeous central lounge, a small, cold-water swimming pool, a lengthy steam bath and, of course, a sauna (actually two.)  You can also watch movie there or listen to the music. All saunas are decorated with mosaics, local art and leafy plants. All these will make your first sauna experience positive.

Be sure, visiting a sauna will make your body healthier and your mood better.
