| Sauna Materials | For saunas in North-America cedar has been the most commonly used material. But cedars high price and reduced quality have become less attractive to most sauna builders. Many people are too sensitive to the smell of cedar, and will find it hard to breathe in a sauna made from cedar.
Coniferous wood are the most popular used to build saunas in Finland for centuries. Either spruce or pine is good strong materials that will last for years. The knots will not leak sap, so even knotty spruce can be used in a sauna. However, pine should always be clear if being used in saunas.
